The ADCO Blog

www.whitehouse.gov

January 20, 2009

With the launch of the new www.whitehouse.gov, President Barack Obama is continuing his cutting-edge use of new media channels as well as his commitment to open communication and transparency.

The site features a blog, pages and pages of useful content about the Administration’s agenda, and plenty of interactive features about the White House and its history. To keep visitors coming back for more, the site also includes regularly updated content like information about the President’s Proclamations and Executive Orders and weekly video addresses from the President himself.

The creation of such a full-featured Website reveals that Obama’s Administration fully intends to use the power of the Web to communicate and interact with citizens. Like during the campaign, the Administration will use email marketing and social networking tactics to drive traffic to the site.

Interactive, intuitive, well-designed Websites like www.whitehouse.gov capitalize on innovations in new media and will hopefully forward the cause of new media enthusiasts like myself. It is my hope that sites like www.whitehouse.gov will work to educate, excite, and empower more businesses and organizations to invest in a site (and new media tactics that support site traffic) that really works to accomplish their goals.
